Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out routine diagnostic laboratory work on patient samples for diagnosis and management monitoring and treatment of the patients
- Ordering, inventory, storage and general stock control of all laboratory consumables and non-consumables
- Maintenance, calibration and ensuring servicing of lab equipment
- Supervising all lab personnel and activities
- Training i.e. being involved in all hospital training programmes where necessary or when need arises
- Making sure all lab results are out on time i.e. lab results turn over
- Laboratory internal and external quality control
- Compiling monthly, quarterly and annual statistics and reports
- Lab outbreak management
- Participating in EPA activities and programmes and notifiable disease consciousness
- General coordination, packaging, communicating and receipt of all samples and results for ALL REFERRAL tests
- Supervision of nursing staff doing rapid HIV testing in the prevention of mother to child transmission programmes

- Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent
- 5 Ordinary levels including Mathematics and English
- Three (3) years’ experience in a similar environment
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to work effectively, both independently and within a team
- Ability to handle pressure and work with minimum supervision
