The HMA (Humanitarian Mine Action) Technical Field Manager holds a critical role in providing expert technical guidance and support to all staff involved in HMA activities, with a primary focus on Land Release Operations. The mission includes operational implementation, management, and emergency preparedness and response. HMA teams are responsible for a comprehensive approach to Humanitarian Mine Action by HI in Ukraine, encompassing Data collection, Non-Technical Survey (NTS), Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE), Conflict Preparedness and Protection (CPP), Victim Assistance (VA), Advocacy, and Demining. HI intends to implement HMA activities in areas where communities are exposed to Explosive Ordnance.

HI re-opened its Country Programme in Ukraine in February 2022 to address humanitarian needs arising from the full-scale invasion. For 2024, HI's interventions are structured around Health (improving access to quality physical rehabilitation and mental health and psychosocial support services - MHPSS), Protection (ensuring vulnerable populations have access to multi-sectoral services and fostering a disability-inclusive humanitarian response), and Humanitarian Mine Action (addressing Explosive Ordnance contamination, EORE/CPP, Advocacy, Demining, NTS, VA).

The HI Ukraine Program has a volume of 7M€/year and a staff of over 100. Key donors include CDCS, SDC, WHO, and UNMAS, with partners comprising relevant Ministries, local organizations, hospitals, and local authorities.
