Job Description
Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses, serving millions of companies globally. Their mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, offering an unprecedented opportunity to contribute to the global economy.
The Core Infrastructure organization at Stripe operates foundational systems such as databases (MongoDB, PostgreSQL), high availability and disaster recovery (HADR), AWS cloud infrastructure, Linux servers, container orchestration, mesh networking, service discovery, and network edge infrastructure.
Within Core Infra, the Regional Enablement Platform (REP) team is responsible for ensuring Stripe can launch and operate new regions seamlessly. The REP team builds regionalization, validation, deploy-safety, and operator tooling to address launch-readiness questions, such as ensuring critical payment paths can run from new regions, identifying remote control plane dependencies, and mitigating issues under packet loss or failover. They utilize traffic replay, synthetics, failover drills, dependency analysis, CI/CD gates, and incident data to develop platform fixes, service-owner requirements, and reusable readiness checks across networking, HADR, and service teams.
This role is based in Bangalore, India, and serves as a senior technical anchor for Core Infrastructure in India, with direct cross-region influence across AMER, EU, and APAC.
As a Staff Engineer on the REP team, you will play a key leadership role in enabling Stripe's infrastructure to power all products globally and at scale. You will define how Stripe validates new regions for safe traffic handling, network resilience, failover, and deploy changes. This includes establishing required checks before launch or failover, building validation systems that replay production paths against regional infrastructure, and integrating these checks into CI/CD gates, operator workflows, and concrete fixes for service or platform owners. Additionally, you will contribute to building Core Infrastructure's senior technical talent in Bangalore through design review, mentoring, and cross-region technical leadership.
Your responsibilities will include defining evidence-based readiness criteria for regional launches, traffic migrations, and failovers, moving beyond manual checklists to globally consistent, repeatable patterns. You will proactively identify and mitigate risks on critical payment paths, using system data to drive ownership and validate measurable impact reduction through platform mitigations. This role involves leading end-to-end cross-functional delivery for new-region infrastructure, including ensuring safe service behaviors for remote control planes. You will build reusable validation tooling to accelerate infrastructure integration for new acquisitions and reduce high-priority blockers, while converting recurring operational friction into scalable platform capabilities. Leading technical conversations and defining decision mechanisms across Core Infrastructure and product teams is key, as is developing and communicating a multi-year technical strategy for REP with clear quarterly milestones and success metrics. You will also debug production issues across various services and levels of the stack and mentor senior engineers, elevating technical planning, design standards, and cross-region execution from Bangalore.
