Job Description

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Regional Community Stabilisation Officer for its Regional Office for West and Central Africa (WCA) in Senegal. This role is crucial for providing thematic oversight and technical support to Protection, Return and Reintegration programmes across the WCA Region, building on IOM's extensive experience in Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR).

The incumbent will work closely with IOM Headquarters, the IOM Global Office in Washington, D.C., and IOM Country Offices to ensure eligible beneficiaries receive protection services, including safe and dignified assisted voluntary return. Assistance may encompass protection screening, counselling, travel document acquisition, medical escorts, and comprehensive departure, transit, and arrival support.

Key responsibilities include coordinating with regional IOM offices, HQ units, government counterparts, and partners to draft/review protection assessments and identify risk mitigation strategies. The role involves providing technical guidance to national and international protection staff, ensuring adherence to IOM policies, and participating in relevant coordination mechanisms. The Officer will offer remote and in-person thematic support to Country Offices, with a readiness for short-notice international deployments to support urgent protection responses. Additional duties include representing IOM in technical forums, contributing to project proposal design, supporting case management coordination for complex AVR cases, and developing/delivering specialized training on AVR and protection interventions.
